PHARMACIST MANAGER (Salisbury, MD)

PhamacistExercise supervisory responsibility over pharmacy. Supervise professional, paraprofessional & support staff, such as pharmacist, pharmacy technician, intern, and/or student, including by training, assigning duties & providing input for performance evaluations. Ensure proper labor relations & conditions of employment are maintained. Evaluate & improve manual of policy & procedure. Assist with hiring of new pharmacists, technicians & cashier. Maintain employees’ required documents & continuation education records through Pharmcap website in accordance with law & regulation. Maintain drug inventory & financial book keeping to ensure profit.

Maintain compliance with company policies/procedures. Participate in company PI (process improvement) activities. Maintain computerized & paper records, such as records of transactions, patient profiles, inventories, & register of controlled drugs, to ensure control over & accountability for all drugs as required by state & federal laws & regulations and for legal & stock control purposes. Plan, implement, & maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy & legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, & proper disposal. Document & report any medication errors to Pharmacist/Owner and to appropriate government body. Participate in review of procedures to ascertain causes of any errors & prevent recurrence.

Ensure legal operation of pharmacy, including meeting inspection and other requirements of state & federal laws & regulations governing pharmacy operations. Facilitate inspections by insurance company. Maintain accurate records of prescription transactions & submit appropriate claims for 3rd-party reimbursement.

Consult with physicians & nurses re: pharmaceutical questions. Advise physicians on formulary medications and cost-effective & innovative therapies. Assist patients & staff with pharmaceutical questions.

Instruct patients on proper use, maintenance & safety of DMEPOS items. Receive and verify prescriptions received as written, electronic or telephonic for accuracy, correctness & legitimacy. Guide Staff Pharmacist to maintain Medication Therapy Management through MIRIXA.

Dispense prescription medicines to public as prescribed by doctors & dentists. Compound & dispense medications by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. Check to ensure proper medication is being dispensed in proper dosage & medicines are correctly & safely supplied & labeled. Keep up to date with current pharmacy practice, incl. new drugs & their uses.

Oversee ordering & safe storage of medical products. Arrange delivery of prescription drugs to patients. Organize educational seminars.

Provide information & advice to patients regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, & proper medication storage. Advise customers on selection of medication brands, medical equipment, healthcare supplies. Provide medicine use reviews (mur) to help patients understand how their medicines work & why they have to take them, as well as prescription intervention service & diabetes screening service. Consistently look for ways to help people. Liaise with doctors and other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, & evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs & drug regimens. Answer pharmacy phones even when pharmacy is closed (pharmacy phone number will then connect to pharmacists’ cellphones) and open pharmacy if necessary in emergency.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or higher sufficient to obtain license to practice pharmacy in Maryland, that is, either a U.S. degree in pharmacy from an institution accredited by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy or the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education, or a foreign degree in pharmacy if accompanied by certification from the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee. Must have five years of progressively responsible post-degree experience in an independent pharmacy as either a pharmacist or a pharmacy intern or trainee.
